No, we do not need a copy of your ID. In fact, we never disclose your status as law enforcement personnel to any of these websites when submitting removal requests. While some may disagree, we firmly believe that people search sites and data brokers should not know you are a law enforcement officer.

Submitting a removal request to these websites inherently confirms that the information they have on you is accurate (e.g., your address). There’s no need to reveal your profession as law enforcement. Some of these sites aren't even based in the U.S., and identifying yourself as a law enforcement officer or citing state laws during the opt-out process can unintentionally draw more attention to you.

Even if you opt out on your own rather than using MAGEN, we strongly advise against disclosing your LEO status or referencing state laws. While it’s great that there are laws to protect public servants, emphasizing them during opt-out requests can counteract the privacy you’re trying to achieve.

We do NOT remove information from the Dark Web, nor do we currently offer Dark Web scanning or reporting services. Removing personal information from the Dark Web is impossible, as it is typically uploaded by hackers, scammers, spammers, or other criminals operating illegally. This is one of the reasons it is referred to as the Dark Web. If your information has been exposed through a data breach and ends up on the Dark Web, it cannot be removed.

Data brokers vary in their response times - some comply within 24 hours, while others may take several weeks or even months. Each case is unique, but please know that we are committed to streamlining the process for you as much as possible. To set realistic expectations and be fully transparent, removing your information from hundreds of data brokers is an ongoing, “whack-a-mole” challenge. It is unlikely that all instances of your information will be removed within just a few weeks or months.
